9 First Steps to Student-Directed IEPs

I wonder how old are the students when they start going to‪ IEP‬ meetings? I remember IEP meeting season, everyone goes meets in a room and you know everyone was talking about you, but did not know why. I started to go to IEP meeting when I was 16, but I was ask to attend everyone. Especially in high, I think I only got to go to the last one. It was like you can have input in your goals, but only when we say you can, kind of odd.
There has been a lot of good comments on my Facebook Post!

The Whole Student

When I was in high school, I think an inclusive class room mainly focused on the academics part of the student. I understand there are only a limited number of hours in a school day, but is going to school just about meeting requirements and achieving the test scores?

school is also about field trips and extra activities, really the school just wanted to be there for school. If I wanted to do the other stuff, it was to my mom and me to find someone to accompany me. Think about what the world would be missing if we did not pay Laura to meet me after school, so  I could do my art?
